... base one level without any brassiness or orange color like most other base breakers
Lightens the base one level without any brassiness or orange color like most other base breakers. Easy to do yourself. Will extend the length of time between professional highlights.

In the past I used Clairol Luminize to break the base between highlights. I thought this product would work similarly. I followed the instructions precisely and my highlights were definitely purple tones and the base did not appear to lift. The purple hair had to be remedied for a wedding we attended. Unfortunately, the remedies involve allowing the color to oxidize over time. I have yet to have any success finding a product to work as well as the discontinued Clairol Luminize.

This product worked exactly as I expected it to. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I found it much cheaper on another reputable website.

BUYERS BEWARE: This listing is misleading as the item sent was NOT the cool breaker; it's the regular/original version of the product which left my hair an unsightly brassy color!

... section and it said that it was for the Cool Base Breaker product
They sent me the wrong one even though i had read the Q&A section and it said that it was for the Cool Base Breaker product. Instead, it was the regular Base Breaker and had the wrong label on it. They really should have checked the box before sending it. Sorry it's negative, but this was expensive and I ended up returning it.

Don’t use if you have a Brazilian Blowout!!
Beautiful color but I think it stripped my Brazilian Blowout, a very expensive treatment. When she went to rinse, I ended up with a waxy oil slick on the back of my head. Four shampoos and still gross. I could tell when she was drying that it stripped out my keratin. :( Remembering a trick from when my daughter put lip gloss in her hair, I worked butter into the goopy spot then shampooed 2 times and that finally got rid of it, but it ruined my B.B.

Horrible.
Horrible. Not only did this not "break my base" or lighten anything, it actually DARKENED my blonde hair. It turned dark purple within a few minutes, and I was really hoping that the level of darkness was not really what this product was going to end up leaving on my hair. I was wrong. I now have a 2" band of dark purple/ash from my scalp downward, and it will take another bleaching to get rid of this color. Never using it again!

nightmare
I decided to try this product since I needed a tone. When I went to rinse, it turned to wax on my hair strands when the water hit it. I spent the next hour and a half soaking my hair in vinegar and dawn and trying to scrape it out of my hair. My hair had nothing on it previously and I used the coordinating developer mixed according to the instructions. I have never had anything like this happen before.
