Total run time: 60min. (1 disc) 3 workouts (1 x 30min., 2 x 14 min.) + Bonus “Introduction” (12min.) Components: Standing, Floor & Barre Level: Beginner Pace: Slow Language: English 80% of all people suffer from back pain at some point in their lives. 95% of those people can be treated successfully by following a daily fitness program that consists of gentle, stretch and strengthening exercises that will reach deeply into the entire back and adjoining muscle groups and release the pain caused by muscle imbalance and weakness. In this Classical Stretch workout, Miranda reviews some of her basic trademark exercises and offers tricks to prevent future spasms and back pain attacks. This DVD includes the following: Workout for Upper Back Pain Relief (14min.) This workout relieves stress and pain in the shoulders and upper back. This is not a conditioning program, but a therapeutic one that can be done as often as you wish. Workout for Lower Back Pain Relief (14min.) This workout gently loosens up contracted muscles to help increase the blood flow into the lower back and hips. The program should relax and soothe the lower back region. Workout to Relief Minor Back Pain and Prevent Attacks (30min.) This is a conditioning workout that should be done after the spasm or full-blown attack has finished; you may still be experiencing some minor back pain and your muscles will be feeling fragile and weak so go easy. The purpose of these workouts is to rebalance your muscles by equally stretching and strengthening them. Release date: 2010 Filmed at: Iberostar (Jamaica)

Great workout for back pain!
Wow! Just did this workout for the first time and it's great! Had my first terrible lower back issue three months ago. It was pretty extreme and happened while doing a Leslie Sansone walking video. I hadn't exercised in a while and the third time I did it I had a horrid lower back issue which took several weeks to get over. Thought it was better three months later and the first time I tried Leslie's video the lower back pain started again. A good friend recommended Miranda EW and I think this might be the answer to my prayers! Will update if I don't have continued improvement. I'm only giving four stars because I have only done it once. The music was pleasant piano music, calming and typical for ballet exercises. It is hard to do the mat exercises while watching the screen but after doing it a few times I'm confident I will get it and won't have to watch. I am 52 and slightly overweight with dance experience from long ago. Great first impression from this video !

Helpful Video
I do not have back "attacks" as such, but have chronic issues, like stenosis and arthritis. I read about this video in a doctor's column in the newspaper, so decided to try it. All the movements feel good, are strengthening my stomach muscles and seem to be helping. I feel she might have corrected a few things. On one of the movements, she fails to mention that she has switched legs (you can't always be looking at the screen while doing the stretches), and on another movement she skips part of it on the second leg. I wish she wouldn't keep talking about her wonderfully strong stomach muscles and how flexible she is! I wish she'd talk less, period! However, I don't find her too annoying, since I manage to do the stretches several times a week.

Short, Sweet, and Simple
If you're looking for a good stretching video, try the Living Arts Yoga series. But for those with physical limitations and those of us over fifty, this is a pleasant, relaxing half hour with an unpretentious lady who very gently guides the viewer through an easy series of safe and sane movements.I'm a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor. I'm also fifty-five and have herniated discs in my back, a shoulder injury, and heart disease. I haven't been able to do even the simplest exercises for almost a year.Since I'm now well enough to begin exercising again, I've bought eleven different videos (count 'em), hoping to find something I could actually get all the way through. Stress Release works. Yes, it's dirt simple. Yes, most elderly people can probably do it. No, no one tells you to try harder. No, you will not get "in shape" with this tape. And yes, I think that's just fine!I'm using this tape faithfully until I can get back into Yoga and aerobics again. I recommend it to anyone with a physical problem, who has been extremely sedentary for awhile, and for those who just want to move around a little more. The gentle stretching, bits of Tai Chi, and charming instructor make it a great transitional tape.

Solid Stretching - Speedy With Limited Explanations
I have suffered back pain for about 20 years. Based on the other review of this DVD, I purchased it. My comments are that the stretches are good and the DVD appears to deliver what is promised in a no-nonsense style.Pros:1) Good variety of stretches2) The instructor is down to earth, a real person who also suffers back pain and is practical.3) Only a chair is needed for the stretchesCons:1) You have to watch carefully how the instructor does the stretches - she does not explain all the moves.2) While watching the stretches, to see how they are done, you often have to crane your neck up - the opposite of what the stretch calls for.3) The switch from one stretch movement to the next is often too quick, but to the credit of the instructor, she reminds you you can pause the DVD.Overall a good routine, and I must confess, my back does appear better after the stretches.

Love these excersices
A friend of mine recommended this video by Miranda Edmonde-White because I was experiencing terrible back pain. After I followed the stretching on the video my back pain subsided. I love the classical stretching because it feels so good and I do it 5 days a week. I bought another video and also follow several of her videos on YouTube. I also bought her book ‘Aging Backwards’ by Miranda Edmonde-White to learn more about Classical Stretch by Eccentrics.

Has greatly improved my back pain after only a month. No more pain pills.
As a devout Classical Stretch fan, I loved being able to order these for home use. Miranda's programs are televised in the wee early morning hours where I live and I sometimes sleep through them if I've been staying up late because of back pain. I can honestly state that after only a week of upper body stretching with this program, I can breathe easier as the stretches have loosened back adhesions that have been in my body since 2011. Miranda says some followers have even experienced an addition to their height that has been shortened by many back surgeries. I am fused from T-7 through S-1, and I can feel the difference already. My pain level is now manageable without narcotics and this is after 6 years of aqua PT to no avail. I have recommended it to all my former Physical Therapists for their review and possible use with their patients. It is keeping me in better spirits to feel better and I highly recommend any of her programs.

One Star
Poorly produced and not much content.

Not bad.
It was ok. I used it once so far. I might try it again soon. Positions aren't generally difficult (and I have fibromyalgia) but positions felt less structured and harder to follow.

Good for stretch therapy but quality iffy
Stretches are great;guide is friendly but whoever did the sound/audio needs to be replaced ! You can hear her breathing plus she sounds plugged up like she needs to blow her nose !! Stretches work though 😀

Great exercises for my back and sciatica!
I am enjoying the exercises. I two very large herniated disks and these exercises are helping me start to regain sensation in my leg. I recommend this rather than the book as the exercises are hard to understand without actually watching them being done!
