Marnie & Lars
I think Marnie and Lars’ story is my favorite of this series! A soiled dove and a U.S. marshal, what could possibly go awry? With Shanna Hatfield’s gift of putting “pen to paper” you will get to know new and delightful characters plus spend time with “friends” from previous books in this series. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, eager to find out what happens next. It will also have you laughing out loud and possibly crying a few tears.

Marnie and Lars
Can a young "working" girl and a seasoned U.S. Marshal find love and happiness? When U.S. Marshal, Lars Thorsen rides into Pendleton, Oregon looking for the restaurant that the wife of his friend, Deputy Kade Rawlings owns, he sees an overly made up lady dangling an enticing leg out of her second-story window. He stops and chats with her for a bit and she gives him directions to the restaurant. When Marnie sees the large, well-built man riding a beautiful white horse, her heart skips a beat. He's the handsomest man she's ever seen.Though Lars is on a mission to bring down a ruthless gang, he finds himself being intrigued by Marnie. When he sees her without all the makeup and her gaudy clothes, he realizes that she's a very beautiful young woman. As they get to know each other he finds out that she hates her profession, but doesn't dare leave it because she feels that she'll never be accepted by society.Marnie is falling in love with Lars but knows they have no future together because he's married to his job.Lars is finding himself questioning his profession and his growing feelings for Marnie. What will happen when he finishes taking down the Bowman gang? Will Marnie take Ilsa up on her offer to work with her at Ilsa's dress shop and quit working at Miss Clementine's brothel?

An impossible romance between polar opposites carries this faith-based western story.
Marnie is the fourth book in the author's Pendleton Petticoats series of faith-based sweet western romances. The entire series takes place in and around the town of Pendleton at the turn of the 20th century. Marnie plys her trade as a prostitute in one of the many bordellos in town. Her self esteem destroyed by a brutal tragedy she suffered as a teenager, she considers herself despoiled and not worthy of any deserving man.Enter Lars Thorsen, the long lost middle brother of Aundy Nash and Ilsa Campanelli who also live in the Pendleton area. Upon the death of his parents Lars fled Chicago as a youngster and his sisters feared they would never see him again. Now working as a United States Marshall, his job has coincidentally taken him to Pendleton to assist the sheriff with the apprehension of the Bowman gang who terrorize the citizens in the territory. The three siblings are joyfully reunited and he learns of Marnie who they have all befriended, disdaining the condemnation of the citizens of Pendleton as to her immoral status. Polar opposites in life, Lars and Marnie are strangely attracted to each other. He sees beyond her lowly status to a sensitive, intelligent and capable young woman. At this time Lars encounters the two small abandoned children of one of the Bowman gang living alone on a farm. He and Marnie befriend them and a warm nurturing relationship between all of them ensues.Lars knows he cannot enter into any relationships because of his rootless profession and Marnie, painfully aware of her outcast status in the community, attempts to avoid him and his sisters, not wanting to ruin their reputation by her association with them. Can they overcome their impossible circumstances and make a life together? What will come of the two orphaned youngsters? Although the story is timed with some rather improbable coincidences, the blossoming relationship between Marnie and Lars carries the story easily and the non-judgmental love shown to Marnie by her close friends is heartwarming indeed.Although the story can stand alone, I have read the first three in the series in this proper chronological order: Aundy, Caterina, Ilsa, and Marnie. All four books are easy, rewarding stories and I heartily recommend reading all of them for the best entertainment value. The author already has plans for a fifth installment next year. I can hardly wait to find out who Lacy is!

Shanna Hatfield hits another one out of the ball park.
I love Shanna Hatfield's stories. They are so good you can't put them down and Marnie is no exception. This is a wonderfully written story of redemption, fun, witty and full of great love and a heart of gold that Marnie has.Pendleton, OR is the setting for all these Pendleton mail order brides series. Marnie is a wonderfully sweet woman who just happens to have a job that is not acceptable in town or these times. She sees this wonderfully gorgeous man below her window and starts a conversation with him which is part of her job. He is the brother of two of the brides in town who he hasn't seen for 8 years and Marnie is the first to realize this. She is funny and happy most of the time but this man does something to her that she has never felt before but knows she can't ever have him. This beautifully written story has everything in it that a romance reader of western historical genre that you could want.Shanna is a new to me author just a few months ago and I have read all of her historical western romances already. I love them all.I highly recommend this story and you won't be able to put it down and you won't be sorry you bought it. However start with Aundy first, as it is the first in the series. You really need them all in order.Get this book and the others and get a cup of tea or coffee, sit in your favorite chair or like me read all night long as you won't be able to stop once your start reading. I love books that are so hard to put down because there is so much going on that you can't wait to see what happens next.

Lars and Marnie
This series is captivating! The characters and storyline clearly reflect the time, research and effort put into the development of the series. Lars is a man of convictions and Marnie for all her past turmoil has a caring heart.

ANOTHER GREAT ROMANCE IN THE PENDLETON PETTICOATS SERIES
I have loved all the books in this series. They can all stand alone but it is most enjoyable to read them in order as you meet the same characters in each book. Marnie is probably the most interesting as in all the others you can clearly see how the couple will come together but in Marnie you have the added problem of her occupation (she works in the local brothel). How this is achieved adds interest to the story. Marnie herself is a character it is easy to warm to and I really enjoyed the book and fear that this may be the end of the series. If so I look forward to her next one.

Never too late for another chance in life!
Every book in this series is amazing, and this one is no different. Beautiful story of how your past can shape who you become. We never really know what people have been through, and what things have brought them to the place they are in life, but it’s never too late for forgiveness and second chances. I loved Marnie and Lars story, just as I have all the other ones in this series.
