I purchased this as a major splurge/ treat for myself after loads of indecision. I absolutely love the pencil assortment, the only thing wrong with this set is the warped wooden box. My only option if I want to get a better box is to return the pencils. I’m not going to do that this time, I think it will go to someone else, and I can tell my set was someone else’s return, probably because of the box. So, 4 stars to Amazon for not being transparent about this being returned previously, and 4.5 stars to Derwent for creating beautiful products but not having super great quality control,

I happened to buy it on sale, but it is well worth the full price. Great addition to my watercolours & gouache.

Inktense water color pencils are basically water colors in pencil form. They are highly pigmented and easy to work with. They are permanent upon drying but will fade a bit if washed (I tested this- washed on cold and then put in the dryer. I did not attempt to heat set the colors. I wanted to see how they’d do.)

I love that this group of pencils came with the wonderful pencil. Everything is in one place and rolls up nicely for storage. I have had a chance to use them yet but look forward to testing them on various types of paper and perhaps using Gamsol for blending.

Love the box. The box is nicely made and nice looking. Pencils are great. Thicker than I like but nice and creamy and good colors.

Great gift

As a gallery artist also taking comissions and doing a variety of work I am thrilled with this. The majority of my work is done in watercolour though recently I clicked on how to use the pencils and found them incredibly useful, combined with my usual watercolours or alone. I have been using the 72 pencil inktense set and decided at the price it was it was worth investing in this set. I love the staining ability of the inktense pencils, and the workability of the watercolours. Altogether this makes for one fantastic set of versatile pencils.

Professional quality blendable pencils. I use them along side the Derwent drawing range. Great value set with the storage roll. The photo shows a light first layer of colour and they can be built up to make as dense a colour as you need. Blend really well and sharpen to a point without breaking. Great selection of colours and I’d definitely add more later on.

Bought for my 10 year old granddaughter.She absolutely loves these pencils.Vibrant colours -easy to use and create effects and beautifully presented.

Love, love love these pencils. They are so rich in colour , you only need to lay down a small amount of colour and then your waterbrush moves the colour such a long way, they are going to last for ages. I also like the fact that you can lay colours on top of each other as long as you let your work dry in between layers. Great value for the money.

Very nice range of colours and i love the wrap, yet i am a bit disappointed in that the colours are a little 'dry'. From the description I thought the colour would be more generous on paper. Having tried inktense and soft colour since i would have chosen one of these over procolour as the pencil just flows on paper making it more pleasurable for the drawing experience i was looking for.
