Less money = Awesome
We just purchased a Samsung Plasma PN58C8000. It came with the Shrek 3d and Samsung 3d glasses bundle. We needed more glasses, as 3d is more fun with the whole family! I purchased 4 Nxg-3DG glasses and don't regret it for a second. I analyze video and image quality for a living and without quantitatively going into drawn out detail, and testing all the fine differences, I can say that these glasses do a great job compared to the Samsung glasses that came with the bundle. The Samsung glasses have actual optical grade lenses where as the Nxg-3dg glasses do not. A very, very small amount of detail (like the "noise" within textures) is lost when using the Nxg-3dg glasses. Would I buy more if I needed more glasses over the Samsung? Yes! However, if they were the same price as the Samsung I would purchase the Samsung glasses. Also, they suffer the same intermittent losing sync (flashing) as the Samsung glasses. It is not constant enough to be annoying, but there are DIY fixes such as the tape method if you Google the issue; if it happens to annoy you. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the coolness factor as both styles glasses have made me burst into uncontrollable laughter when trying to have a conversation with someone wearing them; seriously don't go out in public with these or the Samsung glasses unless it's Halloween and you have a pocket protector. My vision impaired, spectacle wearing dad prefers these over the Samsung glasses as they fit nicely over his actual glasses. Apparently they are more comfortable. My very petite girlfriend likes the Samsung glasses better as they don't slide down her nose as often as the Nxg-3d glasses (realistically I am getting her the Samsung children glasses as those should fit her better anyways, but if Nxg made kids glasses I would buy those as they would be close to 3 times cheaper!). Bottom line: 3d is a lot of fun to watch!! And less money = awesome As a side note, I tend to wear these more often than the Samsung glasses as I generally do not put things back where they go and the Nxg-3dg glasses are within arm's reach as I have been heavily scrutinizing them since there were no reviews at the time I ordered them. They also have an auto shut off feature and the ear pieces are flexible which gives me a greater sense of ruggedness than the Samsung glasses (that I tend to "serve" to people with a sense of great care on a protective platter with a list of instructions and a laynard so they don't drop and break...), so kids and guests have at, the Nxg-3Dg glasses make my 2000 dollar tv purchase easily stay within a less jaw dropping price than what I originally thought it was going to cost just to watch 3d!!!

Excellent Alternative!
In short, the NXG battery operated 3D glasses are an excellent alternative to Samsung OEMs. I have a Samsung PN50C8000 (Plasma) along with four pairs of Samsung battery operated 3D glasses. I've only tested the NXGs briefly but am so far impressed. They are reasonably comfortable, function as good or better than the OEMs, and cost less. Objective differences: 1)the NXGs are a fraction heavier than Samsung glasses; 2) the NXG lenses are slighlty less tinted; 3) the NXG frames are thicker, blocking out more ambient light and making them sturdier; 4) the NXGs use CR-2032 batteries (vs. CR-2025); 5) the bridge of the NXG is hard plastic whereas the Samsungs have soft rubber around the nose; finally, 6) the temples of the NXG glasses (the part that goes over the ears) are longer than the Samsung's by about an inch. Some subjective observations: 1) I think the NXG glasses have a better viewing area (a little less wide but a little taller); 2) if they lose sync (as all of my 3D glasses have done on occassion--the fault of IR technology), they reconnect within a fraction of a second, much faster than my Samsungs; and, most importantly, 3) I find the 3D effect is slightly better with the NXG. I'm not sure why but, in my subjective opinion, the 3D effect is just a little bit better with NXG. It may be due to their lighter tint, thicker frames that block more ambient light, or because the lenses sit a little closer to your eye. In any event, they work, and work well.

Disappointed / Defective
I dont know the chances of getting TWO defective pairs, but I got them. I have the Samsung UN55D8000 model TV which came with two pairs of Samsung CR-3500 glasses. I wanted the whole family to experience 3D and the reviews that these glasses had I couldn't pass it up along with the price ($50 compaired to $130). Received glasses and tried them out and I was a little disappointed vs the Samsung glasses. It didn't look nearly as clear almost like they weren't working. For example the character looked clear but behind the character it was blurry. Noticed when powered on the shades darkened which means that the active glasses are on. However, this dimensioned over time. Noticed that they weren't turning on. The power emitter came on for 1.5 seconds (red light), but the glasses did not tint/or darken as if they were on. I even put the glasses as close as possible to the TV and still would not work. Both pairs had the same issue. I would like to say that these are defective pair, but the chances of getting TWO defective pair?! I guess thats my luck I dont know. I rated them high due to the price, and how comfortable they're. Would I purchase them again or recommend. No, simply getting two defective pairs is disconcerning for quality control.

does not work on 2011 tv sets
These glasses up come in the search for Samsung 3d glasses 2011, but they are IR for 2010 models, not bluetooth for 2011 models. Back in the box they go. There is now a statement that they won't work for 2011 models. I did not see it if it was there last week, I think it's been added. Anyway, I have the 2011 TV so they may be fine for the 2010 TV.

I like these better than the Samsung Glasses
I purchased these glasses for three reasons: 1) I have broken two pairs of Samsung glasses since I got my 3D TV 6 months ago. Samsung's glasses feel strong, but don't drop them because even with only a 3 foot fall onto carpet, they will break. 2) They are cheaper than the OEM glasses (by a lot). 3) Samsung's glasses are 2-3 months out for delivery. I wasn't sure what to expect when I got them. Here is my impression (after watching MvA and Alice in Wonderland). These glasses sync with the TV perfectly. I experience the same amount of cross talk as I do with the Samsung glasses (which is very little). The color difference is very minor. I actually find the colors better with these glasses as they seam brighter. The biggest, however is that these glasses have wide frames. Thus, unlike the premium Samsung glasses, my vision doesn't get cut off. He is the simple pros and cons: PROS: 1) Lower Price 2) Sturdy Construction (although they feel like cheap plastic, they are more sturdy than the Samsung OEM glasses). 3) Almost no difference is quality of picture between these and the Samsung OEM (I like these better). 4) Did I mention these are less than 1/2 the cost of the Samsung OEM glasses. CONS: 1) These glasses tend to slip off if you move around a lot. 2) They come with a cloth case, similar to the Samsung OEM. (3D glasses should come in a hard plastic case! Panasonic got it right). 3D Equipment tested with: Samsung PN58C8000, Sony PS3 Blu Ray Player. Tested against both Samsung SSG2200AR and SSG2100AB Glasses.

Good glasses better price
Glasses work extremely well with Samsung 3D TV's. Battery life is great. The fit and finish makes you realize these are well made glasses. However like all 3D glasses care should be used, after all there plastic. The price is the main selling point for me, if there are less expensive 3D glasses out there with this comfortable fit let me know.

very good glasses at a great price
We had purchased the Mitsubishi 3D starter kit that included 2 pairs of the Samsung glasses and we wanted to purchase an addition 2 pairs of glasses. We opted to not get the Samsung glasses for 2 reasons 1) the price and 2) they do not have the rim all the way around the lens and one of the two in the starter kit had a broken lens and had to be replaced. Mitsubishi did replace them but it cost some additional shipping to return the defective pair. We were a little reluctant to purchase these glasses because they were about half the price of other 3D shutter glasses we had looked at. The reviews here helped to convince us to give them a try anyway and I am glad we did. The 3D quality is every bit as good and possibly better that the Samsung and the flexible ear pieces make them much more comfortable. I had read reviews here about intermitent loss of sync in these and other glasses. We have not experienced that with either these glasses or the Samsung. Perhaps their problems could be with the 3D source, the emitter, or the viewing location (angle or distance).
