Also the first time I ever bought a boot without trying them on first. If it wasn't for Amazon's free returns I probably would not have bought them because it can be very hard to find a boot you want to live in for many miles... I wear boots all day, every time, with every outfit. I've got any kind of boot you can think of - work, cowboy, hunting, rubber, leather, hiking, combat, pull on, zip up, lace up. You name it. I LOVE these boots. They've become my new favorite daily wear. They are comfortable, attractive (to me at least) and well made.Fit perfectly for me, though if you like a tighter fit, you might could go down a half size for a good snug feeling with thick socks.They do seem to be water proof as stated. I haven't stood in standing water yet, but I've had them soaked to the bone in rain, wet grass and a weekend car washing - feet stayed comfy and dry. They are also VERY comfortable to walk in, with great ankle support and arch. Normally a good hike causes me untold shin and foot pain, but these seem to be doing the trick.
